When a film has so many accolades and such high critical acclaim, you really have high expectations....

ROOM doesn't disappoint!

The cast
ROOM is an adptation of Emma Donoghue's best selling novel and stars Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island, Free Fire), Jacob Tremblay, Joan Allen (The Bourne Ultimatum), William H. Macy (Fargo and Sean Bridgers (Trumbo).

The story
ROOM tells the story of Jack, a spirited 5 year old who is looked after by his loving and devoted Mother. Like any good Mother, Ma dedicates herself to keeping Jack happy and safe, nurturing him with warmth and love and doing typical things like playing games and telling stories.

Their life, however, is anything but typical - they are trapped - confined to a 11-by-11-foot space that Ma has euphemistically named Room. Ma has created a whole universe for Jack within Room, and she will stop at nothing to ensure that, even in this treacherous environment, Jack is able to live a complete and fulfilling life.

But as Jacks curiosity about their situation grows and Ma's resillience reaches its breaking point, the enact a risky plan to escape, ultimately bringing them face-to-face with what may turn out to be the scariest thing yet: the real world.

What we thought

The movie is a little slow going to start. All you see are the same four walls for what seems like ages and you really don't quite know what's going on, but that in turn makes you want to keep watching. You want to find out who these people are and why they are here.

By the time Ma & Jack start hatching their plan to escape you are completely hooked.

Will they survive? Will they get caught?

And then the twist comes when they do get out. Without saying too much and ruining the story, this really is where there true journey begins.

It really is a story of courage and determination like no other. What that women went through is unthinkable and to still be standing at the end of it is true testament to her sheer strength.

A story with such darkness but such happiness at the same time, whereby the main characters overcome such adversity is always a winner in my book.

You end up so invested in these two characters that by the end of it you are exhausted. You've been on that entire roller coaster with them and never stopped hoping for their happy ever after.

The actor who plays Jack in it is just amazing. With his acting skills at such a young age, he's going to go far.
